News Briefs and Altar-Cations July 9, 2023

What does Barbie, Big Gulp and Florida Man have in common?  They’re all a part of this week’s News Briefs!

If you’re one of the millions waiting to see the anticipated block-buster movie of the summer -

Barbie the Movie poster

Barbie – The Movie, don’t plan on seeing it in Vietnam.

A map of the “nine dash line”

Authorities in Vietnam have banned commercial screenings of the film because it contains a scene that depicts a map with the “nine dash line,” a representation of China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea, which Vietnam says violates its sovereignty.

Here’s the trailer for the movie…

I think Vietnam could find more than the nine dash line to be offended by.

The movie hits theaters on July 21.  But not in Vietnam.

Last week we told you about

Tristan Stetina who was arrested in Minnesota for attacking restaurant patrons with Skittles

Tristan Stetina who was arrested in Minnesota for attacking restaurant patrons with Skittles.  Yes, I said Skittles.

This week meet

Miles Taz Jenkins from Florida was arrested for throwing a cup of lemonade at a woman

Miles Taz Jenkins from, you guessed it, Florida, where he was arrested this week for striking a female customer with a large cup of lemonade.

A Big Gulp lemonade

A Big Gulp lemonade to be exact.

Jenkins, who was a clerk at the 7-Eleven apparently got frustrated with a customer over payment and threw the large beverage at the woman.

He was charged with felony battery and booked into the county jail. The alleged battery is being charge as a felony due to Jenkins having a prior conviction for sexually battering a young girl (a crime for which he served several years in custody).

Skittles? Big Gulp?  It’s a good thing these morons are smart enough to purchase readily available firearms.

And while we’re in Florida, what comes to mind when you think of

Florida Man Beer

Florida Man Beer?

Yep, it’s a real thing.

So, who do you think would drink such a beer?

Seth Thomas would.

Seth Thomas, Florida Man Beer drinker arrested

Cops say he was drinking from a can of “Florida Man” at the time of his arrest for disorderly intoxication, a misdemeanor.

Thomas allegedly was yelling at traffic while walking in the roadway in front of traffic and refused to stop.

The beer, produced by the Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing, is a Double India Pale Ale that is, and I quote, “brewed with a nearly criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness that just about matches Florida Man’s general disposition.”

Finally – truth in advertising.

And that’s this week’s News Briefs.

For the past several weeks we’ve been presenting Altar-Cations, a response to the right wing accusations about Drag Queens grooming and molesting children.  We have offered that it is far more prevalent that the offenders are likely to be associated with religious organizations as preachers, teachers, or choir directors.

We’ve asked that if anyone has proof that a Drag Queen as ever been charged or arrested for similar actions to let us know.  And someone has.

Via our social media, someone sent us a link about

Anastasia Diamond, otherwise known as Brice Williams

Anastasia Diamond, otherwise known as Brice Williams.  Over a year ago in June of 2022, Williams was charged with 25 counts of possessing child pornography.

In May of this year, Williams was sentenced to 22 to 44 months in state confinement.

Possessing child pornography is illegal as well as disgusting, but how does that compare to

Jordan Huffman, a youth pastor in Portage County, Wisconsin

Jordan Huffman, a youth pastor in Portage County, Wisconsin.   Last month  he pleaded guilty to two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and was convicted as a result. Six other charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Court documents state the alleged victim said the crimes began in 2017 when the victim was 12 years old. Authorities were told Huffman was working as a youth pastor at Woodlands Church in Plover when he was contacted to mentor the victim.

Mentor, indeed.

Matthew Brown, teacher at a Fort Wayne, Indiana catholic school

Matthew Brown, teacher at a Fort Wayne, Indiana catholic school, has been charged with four counts of child seduction.

Investigators say staff at the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend contacted police in August of 2018 to disclose that a former student reported “being in a sexual relationship with a teacher.

According to the court documents, police say Brown was taken to the Fort Wayne Police Department last month where he “admitted to the allegations detailed by the victim.”

Meanwhile in Texas,

Ronnie Allen Killingsworth, the longtime pastor of a Wichita Falls Texas church

Good old boy Ronnie Allen Killingsworth, the longtime pastor of a Wichita Falls church has been indicted on six counts of sex crimes against children involving three different victims over eleven years.

Last month he was indicted by a Wichita County Grand Jury on six counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Each of the six charges is a second-degree felony offense with a bond set at $25,000, for a total of $150,000. Court documents show Killingsworth posted cash bonds on all six of the charges.

Somebody better check those collection plates.

And that’s this week’s Altarcations.
