What do cheese, smoky pink sauce and a movie premier have in common?

They’re all a part of this week’s News Briefs.

Earlier this month, the Thailand Burger King Company introduced The Real Cheeseburger

You may wonder “where’s the beef”

– well, there isn’t any.

Thailand’s offering was a sesame seed bun, 20 slices of American processed cheese, and … nothing else.

A Thai media company published a review of the burger – can you really call it a burger? – which read:

A review of the all cheese burger at Burger King in Thailand

How does it taste? Pretty awful. It was the driest burger I've ever tasted because there was no sauce and no meat patty. I felt a bit sick to my stomach at the amount of processed cheese I was consuming. No human should ever eat this much dyed yellow cheese at once.

I mustered for another two bites. I think I'm blind. No more please.

One Thai Tik Tocker loved it…

In U.S. money, the sandwich – I refuse to call it a burger anymore, would cost $3.15.  An economist said "I might consider buying that burger and keeping the cheese slices, it would be a better value for the money, and I could make more dishes."

If this interests you, you’re too late.  The burg… I mean sandwich was discontinued last week.

Burger King often has tie-ins with major movies sometimes with mixed results.  And their recent glom onto the newly released Barbie movie is no different.

Meet The Pink Burger…

The Barbie Pink Burger from Burger King

It’s their regular char-broiled burger topped with a smoky pink sauce, cheddar cheese, crispy diced bacon on a brioche bun.   Smoky pink sauce?  They swear it’s not Pepto Bismol, but I’m not going to find out by eating it.

But wait, there’s more!  You can order the Barbie Combo Meal

Along with the Pink Burger, you get “Ken’s Potatoes” (their signature fries in a themed container) and a “Barbie Donut Shake,” a milkshake topped with a doughnut glazed in pink icing, for dessert.

Maybe a side of Pepto wouldn’t be a bad idea after all.

Speaking of pink – a few weeks ago we told you how the government of Viet Nam was banning the showing of the film

– Barbie – the Movie because there’s a scene that shows the 9-dash line, supposedly signifying the undefined and vaguely located demarcation line used by The People's Republic of China and Taiwan for their claims of the major part of the South China Sea.

And one never to miss a chance to be irrelevant, Senator Ted “Grandpa Munster” Cruz of Texas, agreed.

Add Ginger Gaetz

to the list of Barbie Haters.

Gaetz and her husband Florida Congressperson Matt “I like teenage girls” Gaetz, attended the movie’s Washington DC premier.

Afterward she tweeted:

“The Barbie I grew up with was a representation of limitless possibilities, embracing diverse careers and feminine empowerment.

“The 2023 Barbie movie, unfortunately, neglects to address any notion of faith or family, and tries to normalize the idea that men and women can’t collaborate positively (yuck).”

I thought the movie was a satire, not a documentary.

One of her negative comments included: “Disappointingly Low T from Ken.”

“Low T” is a common right-wing slur for men they consider to be effeminate.

She attended the showing with her husband Matt

Ginger and Matt Gaetz at a Barbie Movie event wearing pink.

Not sure how much lower a man’s T can get in Barbie Pink Blazer.

And that’s this week’s News Briefs.

As many cities and states are passing laws against drag queens by accusing them of child molesters and groomers, AltarCations points out that if they really want to go where these monsters preside, they need to look toward the religious community – not the gays.  Case in point…

Recently the Archdiocese of Baltimore

added 42 names to its list of church employees who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse, including that of a longtime theology dean and professor at Xavier University of Louisiana, the nation’s only Catholic historically Black college.

Father Phillip J. Linden began teaching theology at Xavier in 1991, after having served as a priest in Baltimore from 1969 through 1986. Linden is accused of abusing a boy in the 1970s when he was a pastor at St. Francis Xavier parish.

These additions were the largest single expansion of the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s credibly accused list since it first published 57 names in 2002. The church’s list now includes more than 180 names.

And then there’s Gregory Sebastian who preached at a Michiana, Indiana church and is accused of sexually abusing a child.  He’s facing two counts of felony child molesting. He allegedly laid in bed with and inappropriately touched a girl who is under the age of 14.

Indiana Christian musician & church guitarist, Michael Crockett, has been arrested for the rape of a girl under the age of 14.

As any good Christian would.
