In 2022, Kenyatta entered the race for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania. His candidacy made history again as the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color to run for the Senate. Although unsuccessful in the primary, Kenyatta's campaign focused on progressive issues like workers' rights, healthcare, and voting access.

As a state legislator, Kenyatta has advocated for policies related to gun safety, anti-corruption, organized labor, and more. He serves on several key committees overseeing state government operations, campaign finance, technology, and commerce. National Recognition

In 2020, Kenyatta gained national attention when he was chosen to give a keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. His speech emphasized the power of authenticity and finding common ground. Since then, he has been featured regularly as a political commentator on national media outlets. Kenyatta's career and personal life were also the subjects of two documentary films.

Personal Life

Kenyatta currently lives in his hometown of North Philadelphia with his husband, Dr. Matthew Kenyatta. When not working, he enjoys spending time with family and friends in the community where he grew up. Kenyatta continues to be guided by the strong sense of social justice instilled in him by his Philadelphia roots.

At just 33 years old, Representative Malcolm Kenyatta has already established himself as an influential voice and next-generation leader. His barrier-breaking career in the Pennsylvania legislature is opening doors for LGBTQ+ people of color in politics and government. Kenyatta's passion for progressive reform and community service is shaping his home state and inspiring the nation.
