BURLINGTON VT: It began with the pandemic forcing a drag queen into lockdown in March 2020, and just over two years later, Amber Live! is celebrating 100 episodes as the leading drag queen comedy talk show on the Interwebs!

Streaming from Amber’s basement pandemic hideaway in Burlington, Vermont, the Amber Live! 100th episode on March 27th will feature clips of interviews and messages from many of our favorite guests such as  Carol Baskin (Tiger King), Francois Clemmons (Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood) and Mrs. Kasha Davis (RuPaul’s Drag Race).

Bob Bolyard plays Amber LeMay, the “Larry King” of drag queen interviewers. Amber researches each guest to learn a bit about them ahead of time, and then uses her relaxed Vermont charm to allow the guests to tell their stories in their own words.

Helmed by producer Russell Dreher, the show has grown from a local Vermont production to an international presence, and Amber Live! has welcomed an impressive roster of guests from the worlds of entertainment, drag, politics and life (generally).

Supporting Amber, with comedy segments between interviews, have been the “Beaver Pond” players Rusty Peen in Thinking ’n’ Drinking, Rocco Zamboni, Bitchin in the Kitchen with Lucy Belle LeMay, Cousins Crystal and Bones, Cousin Craig, and the show has also grown to include Chicago’s Duane Scott Cerny, and Vermont’s drag star, Emoji Nightmare.

Amber Live! streams every Sunday night at 8PM Eastern at AmberLive.tv or YouTube.com/AmberLive.

More information.

When the pandemic began, Amber LeMay and Russell Dreher teamed up to figure out how to create an artistic outlet for themselves online. During the first few weeks of the show, Amber went live on Facebook and took questions from the audience via chat. Russell and Amber quickly realized they needed to add guests into the mix, and they found the answer in an online software solution called Streamyard. Since that moment they have never looked back, and they continue to bring in an outstanding lineup of guests from Vermont and from around the world. Because all interviews are done over the internet, guests have been located all over the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and even Australia

As producer, Russell works tirelessly each week to handle many of the aspects of the show, including finding and booking guests, marketing, building and updating the website, running giveaways, listing each episode on IMDB.com, setting up each episode to run on Streamyard, and then co-hosting and running the software during the show on Sunday nights. He also coordinates with a team of people who contribute to the show.

Director Christopher Blazavich has worked remotely to film Johnnie McLaughlin as Lucy Belle LeMay for the cooking segment, Bitchin’ in the Kitchen. Jack Quint wrote and performed the theme songs for the show and its segments, and he monitors incoming comments in the chat window during each livestream. He also appears as Rusty Peen in the segment, Thinking ’n' Drinking with Rusty Peen. Duane Scott Cerny, author of Selling Dead People’s Things, chats with Amber about unusual vintage items in Amber’s Crazy in the Attic, and Emoji Nightmare brings a recap of the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race each week during Pass the Tea.
